GOSPBU Relaunch: A Fresh Start for the Future of Gloucestershire Old Spots

In the summer of 2013, a group of passionate Gloucestershire Old Spots (GOS) breeders came together with a shared mission: to support one another, exchange knowledge, and build a stronger community decided to this incredible heritage breed. Out of that shared vision, Gloucestershire Old Spots Pig Breeders United (GOSPBU) was born.

Over the years, GOSPBU became a hub where breeders could find resources, stay connected, and celebrate the unique qualities of GOS pigs. Like any grassroots effort, we’ve seen both successes and challenges along the way–but what has never changed is our commitment to the breed and to the breeders who care for them.

Now, in 2025, GOSPBU is officially relaunching with a renewed focus, updated structure, and a strong Board of Directors dedicated to moving forward with transparency, accountability, and member involvement.

Why the Relaunch?

The decision to relaunch wasn’t taken lightly. We listened to breeders, reflected on past experiences, and recognized that the community needed a fresh start. Breeders want quick turnaround times on registrations, open communication, and a reliable organization they can trust.

This relaunch represents not just a continuation of the original mission, but an opportunity to build something stronger and more sustainable.

Our Core Commitments

As part of the relaunch, GOSPBU is focusing on four key pillars:

  1. Quick Turnaround on Registrations— We know how important it is to keep herd records current, and delays create unnecessary challenges. Timely registrations are now on our top priority.
  2. Transparency in Operations— From decision making to finances, members will have clear insight into how GOSPBU functions. Open communication builds trust, and that’s what we stand for.
  3. Member Involvement— This is your organization. Your voice matters. Members will have more opportunities to share feedback, participate in decisions, and shape the direction of GOSPBU.
  4. Knowledge and Resource Sharing— Whether you’re brand-new to GOS pigs or managing a long-established herd, GOSPBU is a place for collaboration, learning, and support.

What’s Next for Members?

As we reorganize and rebuild, you can expect:

  • Streamlined Registration processes with faster turnaround.
  • Clear communication channels for support, inquiries, and registry-related questions.
  • Educational resources and networking opportunities to help you thrive as a breeder
  • Community-driven initiatives where your feedback directly shapes future programs

This is just the beginning. We’re excited to work alongside every member to ensure GOSPBU not only continues the mission but strengthens the legacy of Gloucestershire Old Spots pigs across North America.

Join Us in Building the Future

The Gloucestershire Old Spots Pig is more than just a pig– it’s a living piece of agricultural history, valued for its hardiness, docility, and excellent meat quality. Preserving and promoting this breed requires dedicated breeders and a strong support system.

That’s where GOSPBU comes in. Together, we can ensure that the Gloucestershire Old Spots Pig continues to thrive for generations to come.

Welcome to the next chapter of GOSPBU

Let’s get to work–together.
